My Aching Knee
The ride is on my nephew Jason's birthday - April 4th, which means I have about 3 months to get into shape to do one of two things; complete the entire 50 or 25 on my single speed. I completed the 50 (3 broken chains) in 2006 and only did 25 (out of shape and cramps) in 2007. Unfortunate for me is I am self rehabbing a lateral strain in my left knee. It definitely is not a show stopper but I imagine at least a week before I am on the trail again. Plenty of time for you to prepare and join us. C'mon you can do it!
50-Mile Ride Project Rwanda
This year is the 3rd Annual "50 Mile Ride" http://50mileride.com/. The ride takes place in the Cleveland National Forest and raises money for Project Rwanda. Project Rwanda is a charity that was started by Tom Ritchey. As many of you cyclists' know, Tom Ritchey is an icon in the cycling community and one of the inventers of mountain biking.
Project Rwanda Mission Statement: Project Rwanda is committed to furthering the economic development of Rwanda through initiatives based on the bicycle as a tool and symbol of hope. Our goal is to use the bike to help boost the Rwandan economy as well as re-brand Rwanda as a beautiful and safe place to do business and visit freely. http://projectrwanda.org/
I recognize that there are many causes that you can contribute to. While I hope you will join me in my effort to raise additional funds, I think it is most crucial that I encourage you to follow your heart. Thank you... whether your support is small, large, prayful or moral.
Be safe,
Tim
